Ian Henschke has been Chief Advocate with National Seniors for the past 3 years, working to raise the profile of older people and to strengthen their collective voice.
Ian has also worked in the media for forty years. He still writes a regular column for Newscorp’s SA Weekend out of his home base in Adelaide. He’s worked for the 7 and 9 networks and the ABC. He served on the board of the ABC, presented radio and TV programs and won prestigious awards, including UN Media Peace Prizes in 2007 and 2009. He was a finalist in the prestigious Walkley Awards twice and was recognised for his ‘service to Australian society through broadcasting’ with the Centenary of Federation Medal.
He is also the National Seniors lead campaigner with the Alliance for a Fairer Retirement System. He is also lead campaigner in the Fix Pension Poverty Campaign, partnering with the Benevolent Society and has been an Advance Care Planning Ambassador and in their National Engagement Advisory team for the past two years.
He is passionate campaigner for all older Australians.
