Pete Vance’s passion for singing has taken him to many places, from performing at the Papua New Guinea Independence Ball 1976, to the Olympic and Paralympic Torch Relay Celebrations in Brisbane 2000, to the World Expo in Japan 2005. In 2007 he became Brisbane’s Senior Superstar before a packed audience at City Hall.
Pete performs regularly with Brass Roots Live Big Band, Art Deco Swing Band, The Mark Pradella Band and the Men About Town trio. He is a regular singer at the Brisbane Jazz Club and also in the Lord Mayor’s Seniors Cabaret masterclasses, showcases and gala concerts.
On his first jazz album ‘The Truth’ (2011) Ingrid James wrote: “He can be laid-back and restrained in a cool and engaging way as well as punching out a soulful blues - but always with the strong sense of poignancy and compassion!”
As a song writer Pete has more recently focused on his home village of Sandgate. ‘Something’s Going On’ was performed at the opening of the 27th Einbunpin Festival in July 2018; ‘Jingle All The Bay’ at the Christmas in Sandgate celebration December 2018 and ‘Bluewater Festival’ for the start of the Brisbane to Gladstone Yacht race, Good Friday 2019.
