Competition! Get creative and help us rock the boat

To inspire discussion at the conference we’re running a creative competition and inviting the whole community to get involved.

Everyone is invited to produce creative responses to one or more of these questions:

  • True stories: Tell us personal accounts of elder abuse or ways you’ve protected older Australians*
  • One wish: “The one thing that needs to change so older Australians are no longer vulnerable is…”
  • Anything else that is related to elder abuse that you believe you needs to be said.

Entries can be in any creative format – written, video, visual, audio visual or photographic. **

Entries will fall into one of these categories:

  • Under 15 years
  • 15 – 25 years
  • 26 – 54 years
  • 55+ years
  • Businesses/community organisations.

How to enter:

Simply send your entry to admin@neac2019.com.au and tell us:

  • Which category you are submitting your piece in
  • Which age category you are in
  • Your contact details (name, mobile/phone number and state that you live in).

Entries close 5pm AEST 12 July 2019

Winners will be announced at the conference, with exciting prizes up for grabs in each category!

*names and details will be protected if requested

** entries to be no longer than 90 second videos, or 500-word accounts, or single static images.


  1. The competition promoter is the 2019 National Elder Abuse Conference (NEAC 2019), auspiced and jointly hosted by Aged and Disability Advocacy Australia and Caxton Legal Centre.
  2. The competition is open to anyone. However, while ADA Australia and Caxton Legal Centre employees are encouraged to submit entries, they are not eligible to win a prize.
  3. There is no entry fee and no purchase necessary to enter this competition. Entrants do not have to attend NEAC 2019 or purchase a ticket to enter.
  4. By entering this competition, the entrant is indicating his/her agreement to be bound by these terms and conditions.
  5. Route to entry for the competition is via admin@neac2019.com.au and details of how to enter are via https://neac2019.com.au/.
  6. Multiple entries from the same person or organisation will be accepted.
  7. Closing date for entry will be 5pm AEST 12 July 2019. After this date, no further entries will be accepted.
  8. No responsibility can be accepted for entries not received.
  9. How to enter is as follows:
    1. Produce a short video, song, graphic, photograph, artwork or written piece that relates to one of the key themes.
    2. Include details of:

Which category you are submitting your piece in

Which age category you are in

Your contact details (name, mobile/phone number and state that you live in)

10. Send your entry to admin@neac2019.com.au by 5pm 12 July 2019.

11. One prize will be awarded per category at NEAC 2019’s discretion.

12. Each entry will fall into one of the following categories:

  1. Under 15 years
  2. 15 – 25 years
  3. 26 – 54 years
  4. 55+ years
  5. Businesses/Community organisations.

13. The prize is as follows: one $100 eftpos card for the winner of each category.

14. The prize is as stated and no cash or other alternatives will be offered. Prizes are subject to availability and we reserve the           right to substitute any prize with another of equivalent value without giving notice.

15. Winners will be chosen in each category by NEAC 2019 and announced within a week (7 days) of the closing date.

16. Winners will be notified by email within one week (7 days) of the closing date. We reserve the right to notify the winners               at the event and to display/show the winning and runner up entries at the event.

17. If the winner cannot be contacted or does not claim the prize within 14 days of notification, we reserve the right to                       withdraw the prize from the winner and pick a replacement winner.

18. NEAC 2019 will notify the winners when and where the prize can be collected or will be delivered.

19. NEAC 2019’s decision in respect of all matters to do with the competition will be final and no correspondence will be                     entered into.

20. All entrants agree to the use of their entry in any publicity material. NEAC 19 will protect the names and identities of any             entrants should they so wish.

21. The promoter has the right, at its sole discretion and at any time, to change or modify these terms and conditions, such               change shall be effective immediately upon posting to this webpage.

22. NEAC 2019 reserves the right to cancel or amend the competition and these terms and conditions without notice. Any                 changes to the competition will be notified to entrants as soon as possible.
